Dr Phaal is widely recognised for his expertise in the field of roadmapping. He has facilitated over 200 roadmapping projects all over the world for companies, government agencies, research networks, trade associations and other organisations. His research interests include technology evaluation, the emergence of technology-based industry, the use of visual techniques for strategy, and the development of practical management tools. Dr Phaal has a mechanical engineering background, with a PhD in computational mechanics and industrial experience in technical consulting, contract research and software development.
