Bayesian Cost-Effectiveness Analysis with the R package BCEA (Use R!) de Gianluca Baio,Andrea Berardi,Anna Heath

Descripción - Reseña del editor The book provides a description of the process of health economic evaluation and modelling for cost-effectiveness analysis, particularly from the perspective of a Bayesian statistical approach. Some relevant theory and introductory concepts are presented using practical examples and two running case studies. The book also describes in detail how to perform health economic evaluations using the R package BCEA (Bayesian Cost-Effectiveness Analysis). BCEA can be used to post-process the results of a Bayesian cost-effectiveness model and perform advanced analyses producing standardised and highly customisable outputs. It presents all the features of the package, including its many functions and their practical application, as well as its user-friendly web interface. The book is a valuable resource for statisticians and practitioners working in the field of health economics wanting to simplify and standardise their workflow, for example in the preparation of dossiers in support of marketing authorisation, or academic and scientific publications. Biografía del autor Gianluca Baio graduated in Statistics and Economics from the University of Florence (Italy). After a period at the Program on the Pharmaceutical Industry at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Cambridge (USA), he completed a PhD programme in Applied Statistics, again at the University of Florence. He then worked as a research fellow and lecturer at the Department of Statistical Sciences at University College London (UK). Gianluca's main interests are in Bayesian statistical modelling for cost effectiveness analysis and decision-making problems in health systems; hierarchical/multilevel models; and causal inference using the decision-theoretic approach. Gianluca leads the Statistics for Health Economic Evaluation research group at the Department of Statistical Science. Andrea Berardi graduated in Biostatistics and Experimental Statistics from the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy) and is a senior consultant at the Health Economics Modelling Unit at PAREXEL. He has experience both as a consultant for world-leading pharmaceutical companies and as health economics lead of the critical appraisal of NICE submissions as part of the BMJ Technology Assessment Group. Andrea’s experience of conducting and reviewing health economics analyses spans numerous and diverse disease areas. His main interests are the analysis of uncertainty and survival in health economics modelling. Anna Heath is a PhD student at the Department of Statistical Science at University College London. She is currently working on calculation methods for value of information measures in health economic evaluations. Her work on the expected value of partial perfect information (EVPPI) is integrated into BCEA.

Bayesian models for cost-effectiveness analysis in the ~ 1. Introduction. Modelling for cost-effectiveness data has received much attention in both the health economics and the statistical literature in recent years 1, 2, increasingly often under a Bayesian statistical approach 3 – 6.From the statistical point of view, this is an interesting problem because of the generally complex structure of relationships linking a suitable measure of clinical .

BCEA—A R Package for Bayesian Cost-Effectiveness Analysis ~ Abstract. Cost-effectiveness analysis is usually performed using specialised software such as TreeAge or spreadsheet calculators (e.g. Microsoft Excel).Part of the narrative that accompanies this choice as the de facto standard is that these tools are “transparent, easy to use and to share with clients and stakeholders”.

BCEs0: An R package for Bayesian Cost-Effectiveness models ~ BCEs0 is a R library specifically designed to run a full Bayesian cost-effectiveness analysis of individual data in the presence of structural zero costs for some subjects. The framework assumes that data are available for n 0 and n 1 subjects, that are respectively given some treatment t 0 and t 1.Typically, costs and clinical benefits should be modelled assuming some form of correlation.

BCEA: An R package to perform Bayesian Cost-Effectiveness ~ BCEA: An R package to perform Bayesian Cost-Effectiveness Analysis BCEA is a R library specifically designed to post-process the result of a Bayesian health economic evaluation. Typically, this consists in the estimation of a set of relevant parameters that can be combined to produce an estimation of suitable measures of cost ( c ) and clinical benefits ( e ) associated with an intervention.

Bayesian regression models for cost-effectiveness analysis ~ Bayesian regression models for cost-effectiveness analysis Abstract Recent papers have shown how cost-effectiveness analysis can be undertaken in a regression framework. This paper explores the use of practical regression models for estimating cost-effectiveness from a Bayesian perspective. Two different Bayesian models are described.

BAYESIAN ESTIMATION OF COST-EFFECTIVENESS RATIOS FROM ~ is to consider cost-effectiveness as a two-dimen-sional parameter, comprising the numerical value of r together with the quadrant that the differ-ences lie in. Moreover, we believe that the best way to estimate cost-effectiveness is to use the Bayesian paradigm [10–12] that treats model parameters as random quantities. In ICER esti-
