Brain, Behavior and Epigenetics (Epigenetics and Human Health) de Arturas Petronis

Descripción - Reseña del editor Epigenetics, once believed stable after development, has been found to occur in fully differentiated, post-mitotic central nervous system cells in response to environmental signals. This book explores the role of epigenetic risk factors in complex diseases. Contraportada Despite significant progress in molecular epigenetic research and its enormous potential, there are still considerable challenges to overcome before we can fully understand the role of epigenetic processes in brain function and behavior. For instance, what comprises a ‘normal’ brain epigenome and what is the degree of region- and cellular-specificity of epigenetic landscapes in the brain? How do the multiple layers of epigenetic information interact and change over time? How common is meiotic epigenetic heritability and what role it may play in complex psychiatric disease? To what extent is the epigenome plastic and malleable in response to environmental influences? This volume demonstrates that such questions can now be explored in an experimental molecular biology laboratory. While the community is only just starting to acknowledge the importance of epigenetic processes in the brain, there is no doubt that numerous breakthrough discoveries in brain and behavioral epigenetics will be made in the decades to come.

Epigenetics and the Human Brain – Learn Genetics / Stem ~ Epigenetics . Epigenetics and the Human Brain . Throughout our lives, the brain remains flexible and responsive. In addition to receiving signals from the outside world, the brain allows us to form memories and learn from our experiences. Many brain functions are accompanied at the cellular level by changes in gene expression.

Epigenetics in Human Disease, Volume 6 - 2nd Edition ~ Epigenetics in Human Disease, Second Edition examines the diseases and conditions on which we have advanced knowledge of epigenetic mechanisms, such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, aging, metabolic disorders, neurobiological disorders and cardiovascular disease. In addition to detailing the role of epigenetics in the etiology, progression, diagnosis and prognosis of these diseases, novel .

Epigenetics, Behaviour, and Health ~ Maternal Care Model and Its Implications for Epigenetics as a Mediator and Effector of Social Environment on Gene Function. Our hypothesis is that the social environment would trigger long-term changes in gene expression that could lead to pathology by eliciting signaling pathways in the brain, which will, in turn, cause epigenetic reprogramming.
