Descripción - Reseña del editor Obra colectiva en inglés sobre Historia de las Instituciones Españolas desde la Reconquista hasta nuestros dÃas, reúne en un breve y dinámico manual una serie de artÃculos con los conocimientos e investigaciones de una docena de expertos, la mitad de ellos con numerosas obras de gran éxito internacional sobre sus áreas propias de investigación… Al respecto, no hay más que mencionar a tres de ellos, profesores eméritos de reconocido prestigio y conocidos mundialmente; como el historiador medievalista norteamericano, Joseph F. O’Callaghan, el economista español Gabriel Tortella, o el hispanista norteamericano Stanley Payne. Los tres son académicos de Reales Academias de Ciencias, distinguidos con diversos premios internacionales y doctorados honoris causa por varias universidades, y han sido o son presidentes de diferentes asociaciones con ámbito de actuación a nivel nacional e internacional… Se trata, pues, de una feliz iniciativa de la directora y coordinadora de la obra, la profesora Alesia Slizhava (autora también de un artÃculo sobre la Cámara de Comercio de España), quien imparte la asignatura History of Spanish Institutions en la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid a grupos bilingües. Inicialmente, el objetivo era hacer un manual para los estudiantes de dicha asignatura, ante la dificultad de encontrar bibliografÃa en inglés. Pero dado el nivel académico y profesional de quienes han participado en el proyecto, junto a la alta calidad del mismo y su resultado, estamos convencidos de que esta singular obra satisfará perfectamente a quienes desean conocer y profundizar más en la cultura e historia española y en el desarrollo de sus instituciones sin atavismos ni prejuicios.
